Homestead

from $55.00

Mormon Row | Jackson, WY

Captured: 09/23/23

Sometimes the photos you love most are the ones you never even planned to capture. On this particular morning I was the first one out to this spot. Anxious to get my sunrise photo of the infamous barn of this old settlement just outside of Jackson, WY, I was eager to be the first one there so I could frame my shot as I wanted rather than having to make do with what was available without getting in other photographer’s photos that arrived before me. I got out of me car ready to go take my claim and then the blistering cold hit me and the faint howls of coyotes in the tall grass. I decided to wait till at least one other person showed up before I ventured out into the grass and upon waiting I noticed how the light was hitting this one homestead of to the side of the settlement and set up to take my shot. The end result I think is sheer magic, and to think that I never even would’ve thought to look at this building. That’s why it’s always important to stop and smell the roses, even when you’re looking for tulips.
